Three were killed in a tragic Mercer County car crash last Friday evening. According to police, a 2012 Dodge Challenger headed south on Interstate Highway 79 in western Pennsylvania crossed the median and collided with a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze headed north at around 5:40 p.m. According to the Associated Press, the Cruze crossed the guard rail and landed on its side.
44-year-old Mary Carmody and 54-year-old Susan Thomas were pronounced dead at the scene. 62-year-old Robert Neubert, who was driving the southbound Challenger, was pronounced dead at Horizon Greenville Hospital shortly after the accident.
The accident closed down the road, and cars were detoured around the accident. I-79 was reopened around 10 p.m., according to an article on CBS Pittsburgh’s website.
